Congratulations, Jane!
Jane Chen defended her PhD Thesis, “Deciphering the Link between the Schizophrenia-risk Gene SETD1A and Activity-dependent Transcription” on May 11, 2022. Working in Joseph Gogos’ laboratory, Jane studied the neuronal activity-dependent transcriptional effects of mutations in the SETD1A gene, a key schizophrenia susceptibility gene that provides the first reliable genetic entry point to dissect in a comprehensive manner an epigenetic pathway with novel, causal and therapeutic connections to psychiatric disorders. She successfully survived her PhD to the end, which she credits to Vronsky, her 4-month old miniature dachshund.
